Wyoming Men’s Golf Looks to Build Momentum at Air Force
The Wyoming Cowboys men’s golf team is sticking close to home this week as they head down the Front Range for the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, running Saturday through Monday at Air Force.
The action takes place on the Eisenhower Golf Courses, with the team competition set for the Blue Course and the individual bracket on the Silver Course. It’s a three-day grind—54 holes in total—with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and an early 7:30 a.m. start on Monday.
This is no small field either. A total of 23 squads will tee it up, including familiar Mountain West foes like Air Force, Boise State, Nevada, San Jose State, and Utah State, along with programs from all over the West such as Gonzaga, Hawaii, UC Davis, and Denver. It’s a loaded lineup, and the Pokes will get another chance to measure themselves against top regional competition.
Wyoming kicked off its season last week at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, where the young roster battled to a tie for 15th. Head coach Joe Jensen knows the talent is there and is eager to see this group take another step forward.
“I want to see some improvement,” Jensen said. “We’ve laid the foundation. Kristof and Brody are two really strong players for us, and they make up a big chunk of our score. We just need to keep pushing for more competitiveness and really separate our starting five from the rest.”
Freshman Conner Scheich led the way in the opener, tying for 34th with a three-round total of 218 (+8). Veterans Kristof Panke and Brody Leid, along with newcomers Ryker Lind and Kellan Ball, rounded out the Cowboy lineup.
The Falcon Invite is just the next step in a busy fall schedule. After wrapping things up in Colorado Springs, Wyoming will stay on the Front Range for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, Sept. 29–30.
Cowboy golf is young, hungry, and building momentum—let’s see what kind of charge they can put together this weekend
