Pokes Pride: Glover, Quigley, and Novak Shine on the National Stage
The past week has been a showcase of individual excellence for Wyoming Athletics. From record-breaking goals on the soccer field, to gritty dominance on the mat, to a freshman making noise in the Mountain West — the Brown & Gold continue to prove that great things are happening in Laramie.
⚽ Glover’s Hot Streak Powers Cowgirl Soccer
Few players in the Mountain West have been as electric as Alyssa Glover, and this week cemented her place among the conference’s elite.
Glover was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two matches, lifting Wyoming to a draw against UNLV and a commanding 3–0 win over Nevada.
Her two goals against Nevada — both clinical finishes — gave her nine on the season, the most in the conference by a wide margin. It’s the second time this year and fifth time in her career that Glover has earned the league’s top offensive honor.
Cowgirl fans will remember her earlier heroics, too — including the game-winner at No. 15 Georgia last month that helped put Wyoming soccer on the national radar. With Glover leading the charge, the Cowgirls are showing they can compete with anyone.
🏐 Quigley Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week
The future of Wyoming volleyball looks bright — and Sara Quigley is leading that charge.
The freshman setter earned Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors after back-to-back double-doubles in Wyoming’s road victories over Grand Canyon and New Mexico.
Quigley stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 5.56 assists, 3.89 digs, and 1.22 points per set, while also adding five service aces and a .385 hitting percentage over the two matches.
She opened the week with 24 assists and a career-high 19 digs in a five-set thriller at GCU, then followed with 26 assists and 16 digs in the four-set win at New Mexico.
Her consistency and confidence have been huge for a Cowgirl team off to a 4-0 start in Mountain West play — their best league opening in over two decades. Wyoming volleyball has found its rhythm, and Quigley is right in the middle of it.
🤼 Novak Set for NWCA All-Star Classic Showdown
Wyoming wrestling continues to make its mark nationally. For the second straight year, the Pokes will have representation at the prestigious NWCA All-Star Classic, as Joey Novak prepares to face Stephen Little of Little Rock on November 1 inside Jersey Mike’s Arena at Rutgers University.
The bout features two of the nation’s top wrestlers at 197 pounds — Novak ranked No. 3 and Little No. 4 in FloWrestling’s preseason rankings. Their rivalry is already one to watch:
Little claimed a 13–5 major decision in the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Novak flipped the script at the 2025 NCAAs, earning a 13–5 major decision of his own.
This rubber match at the All-Star Classic — one of 15 high-level bouts across men’s and women’s divisions — will spotlight Novak’s evolution into one of college wrestling’s premier competitors.
