Cowgirls Set for Road Test at No. 15 Georgia
The University of Wyoming women’s soccer team is gearing up for one of its toughest nonconference challenges of the season, traveling to Athens on Thursday to face No. 15 Georgia at the Turner Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time (6:30 p.m. ET), with coverage available on SEC Network+ (ESPN digital).
Wyoming’s Early Season Form
The Cowgirls enter the contest at 2–1–1, fresh off a narrow 2–1 loss at Colorado in which they led for much of the afternoon. That game featured a record-setting strike just 25 seconds in from redshirt junior Alyssa Glover, the fastest goal in program history. Glover has been on a tear since returning from injury, scoring three times in her last three matches.
Freshman Jennah Wanner has been the creative spark behind much of Wyoming’s attack, assisting on all of Glover’s goals so far. Junior Kiley Ballek and Raegan Richardson have also chipped in offensively, while goalkeeper Haley Bartel continues to anchor the defense with a 0.75 goals-against average and 10 saves across four starts.
The Georgia Challenge
Georgia comes in at 4–1–1, riding the momentum of a signature 2–0 win over defending national champion North Carolina. The Bulldogs are 4–1 at home this season and boast one of the SEC’s stingiest defenses, allowing just two goals.
Forward Denigan Summer leads the attack with five goals, while teammate Kiera Staude has added four. In goal, Hannah Folliard has been nearly flawless, posting a 0.41 GAA with 10 saves.
History & Stakes
This will be the third all-time meeting between Wyoming and Georgia, with the Bulldogs winning both prior contests by a combined 6–1 margin. It’s also the Cowgirls’ first matchup against an SEC opponent since 2017, when they faced Kentucky.
Thursday’s game represents another step in Wyoming’s willingness to test itself against Power Four opponents. After pushing Colorado to the wire, the Cowgirls now face an even bigger challenge in Athens—an opportunity to measure progress, gain valuable experience, and continue building confidence ahead of Mountain West play.
