Cowgirls Fall Short Against Air Force Despite Offensive Surge
The Wyoming Cowgirls generated plenty of scoring chances Thursday afternoon in Laramie but couldn’t capitalize, dropping a 1–0 decision to Air Force at the Madrid Sports Complex.
Wyoming (6–4–4, 1–2–2 MW) fired 25 total shots compared to the Falcons’ 10, holding a narrow 5–3 advantage in shots on goal. Still, it was Air Force (4–6–2, 2–2–0 MW) that made the most of its opportunities, breaking through early in the second half.
Kendall Rippley netted the match’s lone goal in the 49th minute, finishing a setup from Annika Jost and Chase Borntreger.
Erin Dahl paced the Cowgirls’ attack with four shots, while Alyssa Glover, Maddie Burr, and Jennah Wanner each added three. Four more Cowgirls tallied a pair of attempts in Wyoming’s relentless push to equalize.
Goalkeeper Haley Bartel stopped two shots for Wyoming, while Air Force’s Trishelle Lopez turned away five to secure the shutout.
The Cowgirls will look to bounce back Sunday as they wrap up their homestand against Colorado College at 1 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
