Cowboys Earn Another Strong Finish at Oregon State Invitational
The Wyoming Cowboys men’s golf team continued their impressive fall stretch with another solid showing this week. The Pokes wrapped up play at the Oregon State Invitational in Salem tied for seventh, finishing with a team score of 887 (+23) at the Illahe Hills Country Club. It marks the second straight event in which Wyoming has placed inside the top 10, signaling continued growth for this young group.
Head coach Joe Jensen expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, noting the consistency and maturity that have started to take shape. The Cowboys have now strung together multiple competitive performances heading into their final fall tournament in Hawaii.
Leading the way once again was Brody Leid, who tied for eighth overall with a three-round total of 216 (E). Leid remained in the hunt for a top-five finish deep into the final round, closing with a steady 74 (+2) after being just one stroke off the lead midway through the back nine. His consistent play continues to establish him as a leader for the Pokes.
Conner Scheich continued to impress in his early collegiate career, finishing tied for 35th at 223 (+7) following a closing round of 75 (+3). Fellow Cowboy Ryker Lind added to Wyoming’s strong showing, carding a 226 (+10) and placing in a tie for 48th after a final-round 76 (+4).
Kristof Panke contributed another countable score, tying for 62nd at 229 (+13) with a final-round 76 (+4). Kellen Ball also finished strong, posting a 74 (+2) on Wednesday to tie for 65th at 231 (+15).
Competing as individuals, Brody Knowlton tied for 44th at 225 (+9), while Austin Barry finished in 75th at 237 (+21).
In the team standings, Boise State claimed the top spot with a total of 865 (+1). Oregon State and Cal Baptist rounded out the top three at 872 (+8) and 874 (+10), respectively. The individual crown went to Boise State’s Cole Rueck, who shot 212 (-4).
With another steady team performance behind them, the Cowboys will take a short break before heading to the islands to close out their fall slate. Wyoming’s final tournament of the season, the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, runs from October 27–29 in Hawaii.
